Henry hunts down a killer in Adam Sandler's Murder Mystery 2 (Netflix Original). Note: Because of our recent vacation, most of the episodes this week will be 2023 / streaming originals (i.e. money savers) -- but don't worry, many more new releases are coming soon!

[00:00:13] Let's get to murder mystery 2 which came out in 2023 and this week I'm gonna be doing
[00:00:20] mainly
[00:00:21] Films from last year because I've been on vacation
[00:00:24] And I haven't had either the time nor the
[00:00:28] Money to go see new things in theaters or get things on digital demand. So I'm gonna be playing a little bit catch up mainly this week
[00:00:36] Well murder mystery 2 is a Netflix original
[00:00:40] It's directed by Jeremy Gerlick stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston Mark Strong
[00:00:46] Melanie Laurent
[00:00:48] Jody Turner Smith John Canny and
[00:00:52] the synopsis is
[00:00:54] Full-time detectives Nick and Audrey are struggling to get their private eye agency off the ground
[00:00:59] They find themselves at the center of international abduction when their friend Marjoraja is kidnapped at his own lavish wedding
[00:01:08] So we did review
[00:01:11] The first murder mystery back when I think it came out maybe shortly afterwards
[00:01:15] It was sometime in COVID so you can check that episode out and I thought honestly that one was horrible
[00:01:21] like I think it's my least favorite Adam Sandler and Netflix movie to date and
[00:01:28] So I was not really looking forward to watching this or had high hopes
[00:01:32] Because like many and I just talked about spaceman his most recent movie. I love Adam Sandler
[00:01:37] I watch whatever he does and I think like many as well
[00:01:40] Even if he has crap movies, there's still something charming about him and
[00:01:45] I'm a sucker for all of it. So
[00:01:48] this of course was no exception and
[00:01:51] I don't think the movie is really good at all
[00:01:56] It's maybe slightly better than the first one, but still not a good movie to me. I understand
[00:02:02] the point and appeal of
[00:02:05] This kind of movie where it's a Netflix movie. It's diverting enough. It's not too long. It's got fun charming stars
[00:02:13] It's not that hard to follow. It's got some quick action and stylish cool locations
[00:02:19] I get that and it's meant to be a lazy Sunday kind of watch which that's what it was for me
[00:02:24] I just popped it on because I had nothing else to put on at the time
[00:02:28] And so I understand that and I think if you find these movies charming
[00:02:32] Hey, there's plenty of ones out there like this that I defend and will go on more often than not but for whatever reason this
[00:02:39] Series just does not work for me. And I think
[00:02:42] Even though this one is slightly better than the first like I said, it still would be
[00:02:46] The second from the bottom of all this new Netflix films over the last handful of years. I just
[00:02:53] You know
[00:02:54] Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aston they're good together, but the script is so bland
[00:02:59] It's written by the guy who wrote Zodiac which you can see the differing levels of quality there
[00:03:04] The direction is bland the plot is so
[00:03:08] Uninvolving I think and I feel like after
[00:03:10] 10 minutes, I'm lost as to what's happening who is trying to do what like I'm
[00:03:16] Completely lost on the plot after very short time. It's not really funny. It's charming, but it's not funny
[00:03:22] I think all the jokes
[00:03:24] Really do not land and either of them this one may be slightly more so but I was pretty straight-faced
[00:03:31] Through most of it
[00:03:32] And I don't think it's offensively horrible like there's nothing terrible in it
[00:03:36] But I just find them to be so boring so lazy
[00:03:40] And I don't know why this one out of all the ones that he's done for Netflix
[00:03:45] I rag on these the most because I think even something like Sandy Wexler
[00:03:50] Is something I appreciate more because it's at least trying to be something a little bit different
[00:03:55] And if it's more of a character piece or Leo the animated film, but this one just does not do much for me
[00:04:02] the
[00:04:03] Pace and the plot I feel like the moment a scene is over. I forget what just happened. I
[00:04:09] am really relying on
[00:04:12] The charm of the stars and even that sort of dwindles in parts and
[00:04:17] Also one other sort of random thing Mark Strong who I think he's a very good character actor
[00:04:23] I think he's
[00:04:24] Someone who whenever I see him in a movie. I'm like, all right. We're in good hands. This is gonna be solid
[00:04:30] at least from a performance aspect and
[00:04:34] Even so I think whether it's his choice whether he's just become typecast. I don't know
[00:04:40] I've become so bored with the roles that he's taking good for him for getting lots of work
[00:04:47] But I feel like more and more these days. He just plays the same like undercover agents by
[00:04:54] Some sort of officer or detective in that sort of realm and it's the same performance
[00:04:59] Over and over and over and over and I'm so bored with it because I can see and I haven't in the past
[00:05:05] I've seen his range. He can be funny. He can have good drama. I think he just for whatever reason again, he just is so
[00:05:14] Boringly typecast in these types of films and I really
[00:05:18] Hate that because I do like him a lot
[00:05:20] But other than that because that was not a favorite part of my performances. Otherwise are fine. There's nothing amazing
[00:05:26] It's just doing the job. It's competent enough
[00:05:30] So I think if you want something disposable diverting
[00:05:34] Lazy Sunday watch you could maybe do worse
[00:05:39] I would highly recommend a lot of other ones on Netflix
[00:05:42] But this really is a perfect example of a Netflix original where
[00:05:46] It really seems to only be successful because it's on Netflix and there's not much else to it
[00:05:51] I don't really feel any to ever go back and watch it again or the first one. I hope they kind of
[00:05:56] Stop with the second one. I doubt that's gonna happen because it's a big hit at least on Netflix
[00:06:00] So yeah, not a fan. I don't think it's ever gonna
[00:06:04] Turn to be a good movie for me. So yeah
[00:06:08] That one is a very very light
[00:06:11] two out of five
