[00:00:00] 42. Let's get to a model citizen, which came out in 2020. It's directed by David James
[00:00:18] Armsby. No cast is listed. And the synopsis is a dystopian world where everyone is born
[00:00:27] and raised to become a quote unquote model citizen. So as I said, this one is on YouTube,
[00:00:34] possibly other places not sure. I just came across this one tonight and by chance and it intrigued
[00:00:43] me so I thought I'd give it a look and then I decided to throw it into the mix here. Since I'm
[00:00:47] guessing many probably don't have an immediate connection or knowledge of this movie, I'll
[00:00:54] give a little bit of a backstory. So it is in black and white and it has very fallout vibes,
[00:01:01] the video game fallout vibes of this fake utopia, perfect establishment sort of society and culture,
[00:01:10] the suburban perfect utopia culture. And the mother and father, the father works at this
[00:01:17] great job that he loves and then the mother says amazing mother and parent and the child is
[00:01:23] happy and he's watching the TV and watching the news and he's loving that. And this droid comes
[00:01:29] into check on them every single day and say, Hey, are you happy? Are you this or that like very
[00:01:35] governing stereotypical governing body sort of thing in that way, like the watchful eye.
[00:01:40] And I won't spoil the ending. It's pretty shocking. I definitely felt that
[00:01:47] sort of ending coming for sure because the whole movie is creepy and they're wearing these happy
[00:01:54] masks, these like fake happy masks, the family are or and everyone is. And then there's this
[00:02:00] final scene where they're in a lineup like an assembly line and I won't go into any more
[00:02:04] detail but it's a quite a disturbing ending but it's very effective and it is very much a
[00:02:10] point at the anti establishment and could easily be like a short film in the world of the fallout
[00:02:17] video games. It's very much inspired by that not really in a eye rolling way but it feels
[00:02:24] fallout for anyone who is familiar. So do check it out. Not a happy movie,
[00:02:29] but it's only about five minutes so you can make it I bet also good soundtrack.
[00:02:34] It does look amazing. The animation is awesome. I don't know what the budget was or who
[00:02:39] produced it but it is fantastically put together. That one is a four out of five.
