[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: 197. Let's get to the second in the Garfield franchise which is Garfield a tail of two kitties,

[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_00]: which came out in 2006, directed by Tim Hill, Star as Bill Murray once again as Garfield,

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Breck and Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Billy Connelly, Roger Rees, and a few others.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And this Knaps is John and Garfield visit the United Kingdom, where Kaseam mistaken cat identity,

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_00]: finds Garfield ruling over a castle, has reign as soon jeopardized by the nefarious Lord

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Dorgus, who has designs on the estate.

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Kevin O'Donnells and Ops is there.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I had never seen this before.

[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I, until I was thinking about doing this as a show, I didn't know this one existed to be real.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought there was just the one movie, the first Garfield movie and then that was it.

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: But didn't know much about it at all. No idea of the plot.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Nothing. How people thought about it.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Just went in pretty blank.

[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's about on par with the first one.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_00]: They're both maybe do a few things better than the other but for the most part,

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_00]: the biggest problem is the plot.

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Even though I don't mind them going to like the UK and there's more of an adventure there

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_00]: in a different scenery, it's just so boring after a while.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't want to sound like a, you know, be the dead horse here but really it's like I like

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: the little setup where they say, hey, they're following that very 90s 2000s trope where someone

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_00]: says, oh, hey, I just got a job or I get to host this event or ceremony and it's in the UK or

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: its in France or wherever else. And then they have this very easy excuse to change the location.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And then they do all the normal touristy stuff. But even though it did come out when all this was,

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess the the fad, it still follows revisiting it after all this time.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_00]: It really does the same predictable stuff where Americans go to London.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: They mess with the English royal guards who can't do anything.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: They go to the Tower of London. They see big Ben like it's just the most boring, unspired stuff that

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: we especially now, but probably even at the time, we've seen a million times before and done

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: much more and much more clever way, more funny way, more creative. And I feel like this style

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_00]: as I was talking about with the animation of the real life animals in the first one,

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad that this kind of travel trope is not totally gone, but it's kind of dying off

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of the time. So I'm happy about that because it's really uninteresting.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And there's the very classic villain played by Billy Connelly who can do a wide variety of roles.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I love him and everything, but he can be a very fun, messieurs villain and he is in this for sure.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Just at the writing for him and really everybody is very very shallow surface level just

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: hero character versus the bad guy who wants to take him down for some ridiculous reason. That's basically

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_00]: it. So I really was kind of on autopilot through a lot of this thing, Bill Murray was as always the

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00]: only thing that kept me going. Animation wise for him and for the his twin, I think is pretty

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_00]: decent still, not amazing but good enough for the time. And even though it's very very

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: everyday routine kind of comedy where Garfield gets to go and be in royalty or he's treated like

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: royalty and then the royalty cat prints has to go eat lasagna and all this very

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_00]: quote unquote unclassy stuff. So that's okay. I think the two leads Jennifer love he

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and Rek and Meyer are all right. I'm glad that they did bring those back and Bill Murray's

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: well for the sequel as opposed to just recasting it which oftentimes happens and it passes the time

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: but it's so sluggish I just feel like it has the Garfield personality of just like it just

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_00]: takes forever for really things to get going. There were just long stretches where I was just like

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_00]: please and it's only like 70 minutes too. So yeah not much else to say about it it's okay

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: but very forgettable. That one is a light two and a half out of five so they're first one in the
