[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's get into Rob Zombies Halloween movies.

[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Rob Zombies Halloween came out in 2007 and is a remake of the original.

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_00]: It is directed by, of course, Rob Zombie.

[00:00:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Star Scout Taylor Compton, Malcolm McDowell, Tyler Maine, Brad Durriff,

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Sherry Moon Zombie, two others, and the synopsis is after being committed for 15 years,

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Michael Myers now, grown man and still very dangerous escapes from the mental institution

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and immediately returns to hadn't feel to find his baby sister, Lori.

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Rob Zombie, he, I don't think anyone considers him to be an amazing filmmaker.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_00]: He probably doesn't even himself.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_00]: His style is very over the top incredibly dark and violent sort of MTV heavy metal

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: 90s music video sort of style considering he is a musician makes sense.

[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_00]: But usually not really a good thing. And these movies, I don't mind if you want to remake Halloween.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: That's fine. But the origin story, the first act of this movie is the worst part about it

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: because what makes Michael Myers, Michael Myers, is that mystery.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to know about us upbringing.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care if he was abused or this or that or the other,

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_00]: but he does not excuse what he did later.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And so I think the origin story and with how Rob Zombie tells it in a very clunky,

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_00]: broad, fairly shallow way.

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't like it. Don't care about it. It's boring.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And with Rob Zombie, all of his movies, they're always at 11 at a 10.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Characters are always screaming and yelling and cursing.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And I like him to certain degree and I always watch what he does because he is on a tour better for worse.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: But this is not one that I would really recommend the remake aspect of it.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: It's all right. It's watchable. And I do really like the look of his Michael Myers,

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_00]: where he is looks to be seven feet tall and he's massive.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I do really like that. That's probably my favorite part of both movies is the look of Michael Myers.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And even when Michael Myers has the long hair, that's kind of awesome.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: But the storyline itself very weak. He's not a very strong scriptwriter or storyteller in that sense.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And we'll get to the second one as well. Both movies are too long,

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_00]: but if you had taken out the first 30, 40 minutes of this movie where they're trying to understand and more.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: He's trying to help you understand.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Where did he come from? Like this is why he did what he did or is there reason?

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And all that don't like it. Don't need it.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And it makes it feel like we're trying to understand a serial killer stalker.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't want to know about that.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So not a very good movie.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And his movies are very stupid in general in terms of character interactions,

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_00]: but where young Michael Myers has the dead cat,

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I think in his backpack and then the mother gets caught into the principles office.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, well, like what's like a dead cat? And like there's just so many stupid lines that I don't mind characters acting stupid in a horror movie.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_00]: But Rob Zombie takes it to another level in that sense. So very weak dialogue.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_00]: The kills and everything are all right, but he has such an insessantly dark self-serious,

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_00]: gory, violent, visceral style that it becomes tiresome after a while because he has quick cuts.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Cameras are always in people's faces, so it becomes very

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Grating after a while and hot take spoiler actually like the second one more than this one.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I think this one is generally considered to be the better one of the two actually like part two more.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're curious about these movies, sure check them out,

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: but they would buy far, be towards the bottom of the entire Halloween cinematic universe.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I would happily take some of the weakest entries in the original saga timeline,

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: then rewatch these. So that one is a two and a half out of five.
