[00:00:00] Ah, the sizzle of McDonald's sausage.

[00:00:03] It's enough to make you crave your favorite breakfast.

[00:00:06] Enough to head over to McDonald's.

[00:00:09] Enough to make you really wish this commercial

[00:00:12] were scratch and sniff.

[00:00:14] And if you're a sausage person,

[00:00:16] now get two satisfyingly savory sausage McGriddles,

[00:00:19] sausage biscuits, or sausage burritos for just $3.33.

[00:00:22] Or mix and match.

[00:00:23] Price and participation may vary.

[00:00:24] Cannot be combined with any other offer or combo meal.

[00:00:26] Single item at regular price.

[00:00:28] Ba-da-ba-ba-ba.

[00:00:59] 103.

[00:01:01] Let's get to the fourth and final Avengers film as of now,

[00:01:06] which is Avengers Endgame.

[00:01:09] Came out in 2019.

[00:01:11] Once again directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

[00:01:14] Stars essentially the same cast as Infinity War.

[00:01:18] The synopsis is,

[00:01:20] After the devastating events of Avengers Infinity War,

[00:01:23] the universe is in ruins.

[00:01:25] With the help of remaining allies,

[00:01:27] the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions

[00:01:31] and will restore balance to the universe.

[00:01:35] So considering this was, as the title is,

[00:01:38] it is the Endgame, the final coming together moment.

[00:01:41] And after a decade of movies and stories,

[00:01:45] this was like the ultimate culminating event

[00:01:49] for basically all of moviegoers at the time.

[00:01:53] And even though I didn't love Infinity War,

[00:01:55] I was like, I have to see this movie.

[00:01:57] Soon as it comes out.

[00:01:58] So I was there day one and right off the bat,

[00:02:02] I've seen it five, six times.

[00:02:04] I think at least now and right off the bat when I saw it,

[00:02:08] I loved it.

[00:02:09] I thought it was very much superior

[00:02:11] and I still think it is superior to Infinity War.

[00:02:14] It is one that while yes, you do carry everything,

[00:02:18] you need to have seen the majority of other things

[00:02:20] to have this movie make sense,

[00:02:22] which maybe some outsiders would call that criticism of the movie.

[00:02:27] It is nevertheless, having just re-watched it

[00:02:29] in the last couple of days,

[00:02:31] still such a well-balanced,

[00:02:34] emotionally gripping and touching,

[00:02:36] funny, well-paced, good action,

[00:02:41] well-written, well-acted, three-hour blockbuster

[00:02:44] that is able to take 10 years of catalog stories

[00:02:49] and characters and have basically every single person

[00:02:53] get some sort of moment.

[00:02:55] And so I think it is still an amazing movie.

[00:02:59] It holds up fully for me

[00:03:01] and I think I was a little worried

[00:03:04] since I hadn't watched it for a while

[00:03:05] if it was going to just be a slog or whatever else.

[00:03:08] I think even if I haven't gone back

[00:03:09] and watched the majority of the previous installments,

[00:03:14] which I hadn't,

[00:03:15] I think that this still stands on its own.

[00:03:18] If you know enough,

[00:03:19] you can just watch this on its own

[00:03:20] and really, really enjoy it

[00:03:21] and you get to see all the characters you love,

[00:03:25] spend plenty of time in that world.

[00:03:27] So I think it is a fantastic,

[00:03:30] very impressive blockbuster even now.

[00:03:33] Like it's one of the best of recent years.

[00:03:37] Talking about though specific scenes

[00:03:40] because there is so much,

[00:03:41] the opening sequence with Hawkeye,

[00:03:44] I think that's a great moment

[00:03:46] where suddenly his family's gone and then cuts too.

[00:03:50] So I think that's a great opening to the movie.

[00:03:53] The stuff with Iron Man being rescued by Captain Marvel

[00:03:57] is good and that moment,

[00:03:59] which is a great Downey Jr. performance moment

[00:04:03] is where he's saying to Cap,

[00:04:06] I lost the kid

[00:04:07] and that whole tie-in from Infinity War with Spider-Man,

[00:04:11] like very touching start

[00:04:13] and how beaten down and lost Iron Man is

[00:04:16] since he feels like he failed everyone

[00:04:19] and lost everyone.

[00:04:21] So it really does somehow through direction,

[00:04:24] through writing, everything,

[00:04:26] that tone of getting very sincerely emotional,

[00:04:31] sad, drama, grief, loss, all that stuff

[00:04:34] and then having scenes like the stuff with Thor

[00:04:38] in wherever that is, Iceland or wherever else

[00:04:41] and he's super fat

[00:04:43] and looks like a melted ice cream cone

[00:04:45] and all that stuff with Rocket

[00:04:47] and all that, like very, very well balanced

[00:04:51] and I still don't know how they managed to pull that off.

[00:04:55] But going back to the Thor stuff,

[00:04:56] that stuff is one of my favorite sequences in the movie

[00:04:59] where Thor is completely beaten down

[00:05:02] and become a drunk

[00:05:04] and they have to try and recruit him back

[00:05:05] and that's a very, very funny, uplifting moment in the movie.

[00:05:11] The stuff with Paul Rudd suddenly waking up

[00:05:14] and finding his family there is very touching

[00:05:18] and then getting into the main crux of the movie,

[00:05:22] the going back in time to the different points in the MCU

[00:05:27] like the Avengers, New York sequence, all those others.

[00:05:32] I think that is so cleverly done

[00:05:35] and it's something that you could call in theory,

[00:05:38] like it could be lazy, it's just repetitive, etc., etc.

[00:05:42] Which so many movies have tried to do and failed,

[00:05:45] but this one, how they shoot it,

[00:05:47] whether it's, I don't know exactly how they did it,

[00:05:49] maybe that's a compliment,

[00:05:50] but how they shot it where there are these new perspectives

[00:05:54] on the same scenes that we are familiar with

[00:05:56] and getting new twists and turns

[00:05:59] and trying to change things and not trying to change it,

[00:06:02] like it really flows so well

[00:06:05] and it's so much fun getting to revisit all of those things

[00:06:09] that some things I had forgotten,

[00:06:10] some things I hadn't, but in full form and all together.

[00:06:14] So I think those chunks

[00:06:16] and how they cut back and forth, very well done.

[00:06:19] The sequence with Captain America fighting himself,

[00:06:22] love that.

[00:06:24] Bruce Banner, or I guess he's the Hulk in this,

[00:06:26] where he's basically just become a celebrity

[00:06:28] staying as the Hulk, I think that's awesome.

[00:06:31] And taking the selfie, I love that sequence at the diner.

[00:06:34] And then Captain America and Iron Man

[00:06:38] sort of putting the past behind him and teaming up

[00:06:40] and the time travel stuff is really funny

[00:06:42] where Paul Rudd comes back as different ages of himself.

[00:06:46] So it's the world building,

[00:06:48] the confidence and the playfulness

[00:06:53] and ability to ground a lot of these feelings

[00:06:57] in a fairly understandable scenario,

[00:06:59] or not understandable but relatable way

[00:07:02] where people are dealing with grief

[00:07:04] and Captain America is doing this support group

[00:07:07] and trying to find a way to move on

[00:07:09] and pretty much restart the world.

[00:07:11] So I honestly don't have any complaints really at all.

[00:07:16] I think the only thing that's a little,

[00:07:18] and I think people have made memes and stuff about it,

[00:07:22] the only thing that is a little maybe overdone,

[00:07:25] a little goofy is, and maybe I'm missing something.

[00:07:29] I've seen enough now to where I feel like I'm not,

[00:07:31] maybe I still am, sorry.

[00:07:32] But the stuff with Hawkeye where he's in Japan

[00:07:36] just killing people, trying to figure out what's happened

[00:07:39] and getting revenge, it seems a little random.

[00:07:43] And then he's in Mexico I think and stuff.

[00:07:45] It just seems a little what?

[00:07:48] That just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

[00:07:50] So if I'm missing something,

[00:07:51] let me know in any of the comment sections or social media.

[00:07:55] Sorry if I'm acting stupid there,

[00:07:57] but that's something that I'm always thinking,

[00:07:58] wait, why are you doing that?

[00:08:00] Why did you travel all the way here

[00:08:02] to kill these people for your family and all that?

[00:08:05] So if I had to point out anything, very small thing,

[00:08:08] but that's one little nitpick.

[00:08:12] But otherwise it's still amazing.

[00:08:15] As I said, the final moments with Iron Man are great,

[00:08:19] and that's really where it all does come together

[00:08:21] in the funeral,

[00:08:23] and you see basically every single person in Hollywood

[00:08:26] attending with all those characters.

[00:08:28] That's awesome.

[00:08:29] So it'll always be a favorite of mine,

[00:08:32] maybe top five Marvel movies for me,

[00:08:34] but it's definitely up there no matter what,

[00:08:36] and I think I'll always, as many do probably,

[00:08:40] have that fondness for what it was able to accomplish

[00:08:43] and all those feelings I was able to evoke

[00:08:46] and still be a great movie.

[00:08:48] It didn't just pander, in my opinion at least.

[00:08:52] And as always, let me know your thoughts.

[00:08:54] I will be doing more Marvel franchises

[00:08:58] and series and stuff in the weeks, months to come,

[00:09:01] and if there are any that you want to see reviewed

[00:09:03] specifically, reviewed or talked about more,

[00:09:07] let me know in any way through the information

[00:09:10] in the show notes, the context stuff.

[00:09:12] So let me know.

[00:09:12] I would love to hear from you.

[00:09:15] Yeah, that one is a heavy five out of five.
