[00:00:00] 102. Let's get to the third Avengers film which is Avengers Infinity War which
[00:00:08] came out in 2018. It's directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo who also did
[00:00:13] Captain America Winter Soldier and Civil War. Stars basically everyone in
[00:00:19] Hollywood. The Avengers cast Chadwick Boseman, Zoe Saldana, Tom Hiddleston,
[00:00:24] Karen Galean, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Idris
[00:00:29] Elba, the list goes on and on and on and on. And the synopsis is the Avengers and
[00:00:35] their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat
[00:00:38] the powerful Thanos before his blitz of a devastation and ruin puts an end to
[00:00:44] the universe. So this movie I remember as with all
[00:00:50] Avengers films there was huge hype especially since this was truly not just
[00:00:54] the Avengers coming together but this was basically every single person in the
[00:00:58] MCU being involved in this movie really along with Endgame one of the
[00:01:02] biggest most epic movies of all time considering all involved and we did
[00:01:09] review it I think when it first came out so you can check out that original
[00:01:12] review and I think when I saw it I have seen it probably three or four times at
[00:01:18] least since it came out and when I first saw it I was not a huge fan. I liked it
[00:01:24] alright but I found it to be way too much of a setup for the second part I
[00:01:30] thought it was just plot pieces moving around set up for characters there
[00:01:35] wasn't really much of a self-contained movie in there and I understand that
[00:01:40] it's meant to be two pieces of the same story but still felt like all right I'd
[00:01:45] rather just watch one movie or just it didn't really work for me totally and I
[00:01:50] think as time has gone on it's continued to go up and I've thought
[00:01:54] about it more and I've read more reviews of it and now I don't think it's as good
[00:01:58] as Endgame spoiler but I do really like it and I think my views have pretty much
[00:02:04] totally changed. I think going back real quick in terms of the scale say what you
[00:02:12] will about these movies and if you haven't seen like all of the other MCU
[00:02:16] movies they probably won't really connect with you but there's no denying
[00:02:22] the incredible massive scale and I don't know how they were able to manage
[00:02:28] getting these many characters in a movie that's really not that long it's two and
[00:02:34] a half hours pretty much and there are dozens and dozens and dozens of
[00:02:39] characters plot points moving setups things coming back from other films like
[00:02:45] it's pretty insane the way that they are able to manage all of this all the
[00:02:51] locations all those threads and have it make pretty much total sense in the big
[00:02:57] scheme of things and it's not a big jumble they managed to give basically
[00:03:04] everyone their moments at least in one way or the other like emotional moments
[00:03:08] or setting up characters and certain relationships I think one of the best
[00:03:12] things is for any big fans is having characters from different parts of the
[00:03:18] universe suddenly thrust together like Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy or
[00:03:23] Captain America and Groot or you know whoever else I think all that is awesome
[00:03:27] and I think every time I watch it I enjoy that stuff more and more so I think
[00:03:33] that the movie is definitely one of the better it would be my second favorite
[00:03:38] Avengers film one of the better films in terms of the team up movies but
[00:03:45] talking about specific stuff that I like I mean there's so much to talk about
[00:03:49] it's hard to really even grasp it fully but Loki's death I love that the well
[00:03:57] actually talking about a small problem with movie one main thing that I always
[00:04:02] cannot get past is Mark Ruffalo or Hulk they have like no purpose for him in
[00:04:09] this movie aside from basically just exposition and I'm glad that they kind
[00:04:13] of corrected that in in-game but he is so throwaway in this like the scene that
[00:04:20] always gets me is towards the beginning where Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Bruce
[00:04:26] Banner are talking together in that lobby place it is the most ridiculous
[00:04:33] nonsensical stupid stuff like all the superbots the stones we have to do this
[00:04:39] the portals are gonna this and that like and it's just basically Mark Ruffalo
[00:04:44] spitting off the most ridiculous stuff you can imagine and I understand that
[00:04:48] they had to put in plot points and certain concepts and objects and all that
[00:04:54] in the movie at some point but that scene is always just like I'm like oh
[00:04:58] god I don't want to watch this and then once we get past that it's not that bad
[00:05:02] but really throughout the whole movie Mark Ruffalo is pretty much just for
[00:05:08] exposition and that is I think they could have done something different with
[00:05:12] that because he has a lot to offer and I'm glad that he did improve
[00:05:17] other things the big fight in Wakanda is awesome and I think that what I had
[00:05:24] issue with first time I saw it is I didn't get why we should care about all
[00:05:30] these characters fading away you know in the blip because I was thinking okay in
[00:05:36] in-game we know based on like the trailers and all the leaks we know most
[00:05:42] of these characters are going to return so why should we care I felt like it was
[00:05:47] really lazy it didn't work I was like I'm not emotional about this when
[00:05:51] everybody else was around me and stupid maybe because of that sorry that's just
[00:05:56] how I felt initially but now based on other things I read the more I watch it
[00:06:02] at least how I see it and sorry if I'm late to the game is it's really more
[00:06:08] about how the characters are reacting to those disappearances rather than the
[00:06:14] viewer like okay Captain America just lost blank Iron Man just lost blank how
[00:06:20] are they reacting how are they thinking not how am I as a viewer considering oh
[00:06:25] no like this person just faded away we lost the Guardians or whoever when we
[00:06:31] know they're coming back like that's not really the core point from what I
[00:06:36] gathered so the ending does really work for me now I think the one that I always
[00:06:42] go back to and I will submit I think it really is good the spider-man Iron Man
[00:06:49] moment where he's like you know what's going on I don't feel right and I don't
[00:06:53] want to go all that stuff I think that's a really really good moment acting wise
[00:06:58] for Tom Holland and for Downey jr. I think that's a very touching moment so I
[00:07:03] will submit that's a great scene and the battle itself it is sort of hard to keep
[00:07:10] that personal and intimate like it's such a big sequence where it's a lot of
[00:07:15] CG and I guess the main point of it is to say oh there's Black Panther with
[00:07:21] Captain America and the Guardians all flying together and etc etc I get it I
[00:07:25] think that the action is probably the weakest part of the movie though because
[00:07:29] it does at times feel obligatory the sequence with Captain America coming to
[00:07:38] get Vision and Wanda is good the Gamora sacrifice with Thanos very effective and
[00:07:44] overall I don't love Thanos sometimes he's such a big sprawling epic figure
[00:07:51] and so CG heavy that I don't always connect with that villain as much as
[00:07:56] maybe others but I think Josh Brolin is very good performances across the board
[00:08:01] great CG amazing still looks fantastic the pacing is pretty decent I think there
[00:08:07] are points where it does feel a little long but I'm not really upset that it is
[00:08:11] long like alright I get it it's getting every single thing together so that
[00:08:17] works for me now as well so it does I guess you call it a grow or not a
[00:08:23] shower for me one that I will revisit every so often I think there is just a
[00:08:28] nice sense of belonging in these movies where it's bringing together all these
[00:08:33] different parties and they're trying to work out their differences and seeing
[00:08:37] their friends and bringing their friends back and all that so I don't
[00:08:41] know why it struck me now that I really wanted to revisit the Avengers films but
[00:08:45] it was so great movie that is a four and a half out of five
