[00:00:25] International Services LLC and MLS 906985. Bonus Daily, let's get to the secret life

[00:00:35] of Walter Mitty which came out in 2013 is directed by Ben Stiller.

[00:00:47] Ben Stiller, Star is Ben Stiller, as well as Kristen Wiig, John Daly, Katherine Hunn, Adam Scott, Shirley MacLean, and many others.

[00:00:52] And the synopsis is, when both he and a colleague are about to lose their job, Walter takes

[00:00:57] action by embarking on an adventure more extraordinary than anything he has ever imagined.

[00:01:04] So I really like Ben Stiller generally as both an actor,

[00:01:08] love him as an actor, and as a director, I think Tropic Thunder

[00:01:11] is one of the best comedies of all time.

[00:01:13] Just putting that out there, I think it is by far.

[00:01:16] And this movie I saw in theaters and I've seen it a handful

[00:01:20] of times over the years, I think right off the bat, this is one of the most underrated adventure journey films

[00:01:29] of recent years because almost more so than any other movie

[00:01:34] that I've ever seen in my life,

[00:01:36] this movie makes me want to get up

[00:01:38] and go do something extraordinary.

[00:01:40] Like it makes me wanna get up and go travel,

[00:01:43] go try this, go try that, learn something new. Like it has that want to get up and go travel, go try this, go try that.

[00:01:46] Learn something new. Like it has that inspirational vibe to it.

[00:01:49] And it's stronger.

[00:01:50] Again, like then any other sort of film like that I've ever seen.

[00:01:53] And I don't know exactly why that is, but it's very well directed.

[00:01:57] It looks fantastic.

[00:01:58] Like visually, both locations, cinematography, it looks really, really good.

[00:02:03] And Ben Stiller is perfect,

[00:02:05] and that role in the whole cast is very good.

[00:02:08] But that initial part where he is saying,

[00:02:11] I don't know about going on this adventure

[00:02:13] or trying to find this guy,

[00:02:14] and then he decides to go for it,

[00:02:17] and people think he's nuts.

[00:02:19] And he just travels, I think, first to Iceland

[00:02:21] or some other places, and tries to find

[00:02:23] Sean Penn's character, which

[00:02:25] another thing, Sean Pinn in the role that he's in in the scene that he's in.

[00:02:29] Amazing.

[00:02:30] Like Sean Pinn is just an amazing actor in general, but I love the scene with him where

[00:02:34] he encounters him on this mountainside cliffside and they just sit there watching this snow leopard

[00:02:40] and Sean Pinn is very quiet contemplative photographer and there's that line where

[00:02:50] Ben Stiller asks him, aren't you going to take the photograph? And he's like, no, sometimes I don't, sometimes I just want to, you know, like be in the moment, essentially I'm paraphrasing there,

[00:02:54] but that sort of stuff in the movie really hits me and stays with me and

[00:03:00] so I think the movie is very, for the sort of film that it is, being this sort of blockbuster

[00:03:06] adventure film, it's very creative, very inspired, and inspiring.

[00:03:10] Great soundtrack.

[00:03:13] Like the music choices and the music cues in terms of when those songs hit are perfect.

[00:03:20] And I don't know exactly how that all came together.

[00:03:23] I'm sure Ben Stiller had a big part,

[00:03:25] of course, to do with that. Some of the kind of dream sequences where he's imagining himself as

[00:03:32] this hero and fighting with Adam Scott's character, like that stuff is a little goofy and maybe the

[00:03:37] effects don't look amazing, but it's still fun and goofy. So I like it. But the emotional

[00:03:49] So I like it, but the emotional resonance of the movie is very strong, quite unexpectedly. So the sequence where he drops out of the helicopter is good, where he gets to Iceland.

[00:03:55] And there's the, I guess that's right before he gets into the water.

[00:03:58] And he's just wandering around the town, like the location is beautiful again.

[00:04:03] Like I love it.

[00:04:11] And some other good moments in the movie, the sequence or sequences with

[00:04:16] Kristen Wigs, son and Ben Stiller, where he's showing the son, some skateboard tricks is great.

[00:04:18] The Benjamin Button parody dream sequence is hilarious, where Ben

[00:04:24] Stiller at first first before he goes on

[00:04:25] the adventure where he sees himself in the different time magazine covers like

[00:04:30] as the astronaut and all that stuff that stuff is really fun and I just love it

[00:04:35] a lot and I think the final moment with Sean Penn's photograph and what becomes

[00:04:42] the cover of the last magazine cover is really

[00:04:45] touching where it's been stellar in the photograph.

[00:04:48] I think that is a fantastic moment.

[00:04:52] And I think it's the title of the cover.

[00:04:55] It is like the quintessence of life.

[00:04:57] I think that is a great summation of the movie.

[00:05:01] The skateboarding sequence, I think the best sequence out of any of them is when

[00:05:05] he's skateboarding down that long country road in Iceland, like that is amazing. And

[00:05:12] it's so fun, so compelling. Then there's the volcano sequence, like there's so many

[00:05:17] memorable moments in this movie. And I don't know if every part of the movie is perfect.

[00:05:23] Like I think towards the end, it starts to drag just a little bit.

[00:05:27] And there are a few pacing issues here and there,

[00:05:29] but I can't express how fun it is

[00:05:31] and how I think everyone should watch it

[00:05:34] because it will probably want to make you get up

[00:05:37] and go out and do something and achieve something.

[00:05:39] Like it does for me every single time I watch it.

[00:05:41] So that is a very rare gift in a movie. And so I really

[00:05:47] am very appreciative for that and for Vince to learn how he told this story. So that is a heavy

[00:05:54] four and a half out of five.
